The sentencing calculator, by design, rounds partial days up when applying credit time, as required by Indiana law. Please note that the calculator is only a tool to assist with sentence calculations; official sentences can only be imposed or modified by the sentencing Judge through a court order.
If the statutory maximum is imposed, rounding partial days up can sometimes result in a release date beyond the statutory maximum. To avoid this, partial days should be excluded in these situations. In practice, this means subtracting one day from the release date calculation so that the sentence does not exceed the maximum allowed by law.
